Preparation day yesterday for the Downhill Competition on National level in Champoluc - Frachey. The track is challenging and fast. The lift-train brings bikes and occasional visitors up to Mandria. Many of the 250 partecipants were already training hard. One fell in the woods and was rescued by the Aosta Valley Rescue Team by helicopter. See the video.
Bike on the Italian side of Monterosa is already popular in Cervinia, where you can bring your bike with the highest cable car to 3600 m and slide down to the town at 2000 m. Since last summer it is also possible to have bike fun in the valleys of Champoluc and Gressoney, where they have opened a few downhill tracks (see next news about Italian Championship). The organization of the classic race has decided to ostpone the start because of the very bad weather forecasts for this week-end. At the moment it is not yet decided when it will be possible to start. Hopefully the participants have to wait only for a couple of days. News on www.trofeomezzalama.org
